How to DIY Spray Paint an Old Grill for $10

Have you ever been driving down the street and you do a double take?

“What was that just down the road?!” Must turn around.

No shame.

Why?! Because sometimes one man’s junk is another man’s treasure! ( Thanks, Mom!)

We found this grill at the curb. With a sign saying FREE! We didn’t even have a rope in our car. I used the old trick my dad taught me ( or I saw him do). Use our dog’s leash and wrap that bad boy up and hold it tight by slamming the doors tight on the leash.

Now is the time to be on the lookout as people toss old ugly ones for something brand new and shiny.

But we are bargain hunters.

We brought it home.

I bought 2 cans of High Heat Spray paint at Home Depot for $10. This grill has lasted us three years so far for only $10!!!!! Say what!?!

BEFORE

Cover up all the chrome spots or anything you do not want to be painted. We use blue painters tape.  Then choose your well-ventilated area and paint away in smooth even streaks.

AFTER

Still, have to paint the bottom! But I’m so excited about the results! I spent $10 total on that grill! SWEET!

Update: We never ended up painting the bottom and it’s totally okay because all the ash just falls on it anyways.

We still have this grill after three years. We decided to buy a gas/charcoal combo grill from BJ’s last year and my husband prefers this one! The gas side wasn’t well made a handle was broken and it’s small. This grill gives up space for large gatherings in the summer.

Spring is the time people are wanting to just get rid of stuff, so keep your eyes open.

What have you found at the side of the road recently?

Love it! I love to grab someone else's trash too! We furnished our first home this way! Can't beat $10!
