Essential Oils. They have become a thing you feel you need to have, but I’m not sure why. I get the direct marketing. I am completely in love with how many of us stay-at-home moms are now work-from-home moms. I get it- blogging is how I make money from home.
But I’m frugal. That means I want the highest quality product for the BEST price. It doesn’t mean I want cheap. Although I occasionally go that route because my bloodlines have crossed with cheap and frugal.
But I can’t justify paying $40 for a bottle of oil- when I’m clipping coupons for my kids to eat each week.
Do I want a healthier lifestyle? By all means.
Do I think there is only one brand to buy essential oils from? Absolutely not.
Just like I do not think you need to buy your leggings from one supplier for a very high cost.
Listen, if you love a certain company, then learn how to treat yourself and buy it when you can afford it.
I see many people fall into the trend of these direct sales and wanting to support friends/family– but in reality, they can’t afford it.
If you don’t have a budget or even care about a budget and your financial situation is super. By all means, support those and pay the insanely high prices.
But if you are like me living on a construction worker’s salary with two growing girls and a bunch of farm animals that eat better than you sometimes, check out how to get quality essential oils cheaply.
When I first stayed home with our first born- Food became a whole new world. Everything suddenly became toxic.
As well as my thinking. Sometimes the stress will do more damage than the processed food you eat.
But that’s a whole other post for another day 😉
Let me say that I bought the starter kit with Young Living, and the girl who did the class was GOOD! She made me freak out like, whoa.
I, a very frugal person, dropped a $120 on oils and a diffuser that two years later doesn’t work anymore, and my $15 diffuser from Amazon is going strong!
This article is going to cause some tension. That I understand. Hear me out; I have nothing against any essential oil company and those who are promoting them.
They are great oils; they work wonders- but they aren’t affordable. We live in a country where the average American Household Credit Card debt is $16,061.Â
Let me introduce you to my two favorite Quality Organic Essential Oil Brands.
Plant Therapy & Mountain Rose Herb.
Why does Organic Matter?
The USDA states that organic foods and organic farming aim to “integrate cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.“
Put simply, if you see the “USDA Organic” or “Certified Organic” seal on your food, the item must have an ingredients list, and the contents should be 95% or more certified organic, meaning free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering, according to the USDA. The remaining 5% may be foods or processed with additives on an approved list.
I found this article on one of my favorite blogs’ The Hippy Homemaker. It was right after I felt suckered into buying Young Living. My frugal blood needed to be heard. I probably spent too much money, but it’s okay.
She digs into a few other companies that are not labeled organic. She also signed up to sell Young Living’s major competitor, DoTerra. Â It’s a great read, and she links to more articles about this very topic.
So, let me tell you about my experience with these oils.
I love Mountain Rose Herb. They are my favorite, but as the girls are growing and my demands with working from home become more, I’m loving the free shipping and being able to order from Plant Therapy.
Here are the top Essential Oils I always have on hand from Plant Therapy. The above holder we made for free from a piece of wood, check out the tutorial here.
Kids Blends Nighty Night goes in the girl’s diffuser before bed. We all love this smell.
I love keeping the roll-ons in my purse and car. I also have a Nighty Night One for the girls to rub on their foreheads, toes, and wrists at bedtime too. We don’t rub them on every night because it hasn’t become part of the routine like the diffuser.
The three essential oil roll-ons we have on hand now are:
- Calming The Child– My kids love this when they are sick.
- Germ Destroyer– This stays in the purse.
- Nighty Night- Bedtime
I always have the following single essential oils on hand or try too!
There are so many different oils and blends to try. The beauty of choosing one of the companies I mentioned is you can try a couple of different ones without your entire paycheck disappearing!
Well, that wraps up how to get quality essential oils for cheap. I really love Plant Therapy Essential Oils and have never been disappointed by any of the products I’ve tried from them. As far as kid-safe oils go, my favorite are the convenient and safe roll ons.
They’re great for taking away with us, and my kids love them – which is a win all around!
Now it’s your turn – have you tried any new oil companies lately? Do you have a favorite single oil you use daily? I’d love to hear from you in the comments – let’s chat about this topic!
Thanks again for joining me on this journey and until next time take care of yourselves and keep those essential oils close!
