- Easy Holiday Crafts with Dollar General Finds
A Dollar General recently opened in our little town, and wow, I didn’t realize how convenient it would be.
There is a whole aisle filled with everyday items for only $1! Whether you live in the country or a city, Dollar General has some really cute Christmas decor!
I’ve gathered some of the cutest finds at Dollar General and some inspiration for decoration. Many of these items are only $1!
The key to finding these cute deals is going early in the season. It’s the end of October, and stores are filled with Christmas decor now. In about a month, it will be moving out, and Valentine’s Day will be in.
I’ve included some cute ways to use this Dollar General decor in your home after the images of the goodies I found at our local Dollar General.
Christmas Decor ideas from Dollar General.
Holiday Decor on a Tiered Tray
If you have a tiered tray at home, you can create a beautiful holiday display using these Dollar General items. Combine the frosted candle, truck mug, and tumblers, adding small Dollar General ornaments and greenery for extra charm.
A tiered tray is perfect for seasonal decorations because you can mix and match pieces, keeping things fresh without buying new decor each year.
$5 Christmas Tree
If you haven’t seen the $5 Dollar Trees going viral, the 5 Dollar General one is pretty darn cute. Since Dollar General is a lot closer to our house, I chose theirs.
Here are some ideas on how I decorated it. Everything you see in the images with the tree are all from Dollar General! I hope this inspires you to check your local store. Below are more ideas on how to use Dollar General items for Christmas decor.
Frosted Sugar Cookie Candle: Cozy Christmas Scent on a Budget
This Club92 Frosted Sugar Cookie Candle looks beautiful in its frosted glass jar and fills the room with a warm, holiday scent. Use it as a centerpiece for a Christmas vignette or place it on a coffee table with faux snow and pine cones for a rustic feel.
DIY Tip: Once the candle burns out, repurpose the jar as a holder for holiday treats or mini ornaments.

Merry Christmas Truck Mug: Festive Hot Cocoa Station
Nothing says Christmas like a cozy hot cocoa station! This charming red mug with a vintage Christmas truck is perfect for serving warm drinks or using it as a decor piece. Place it next to a jar of candy canes, marshmallows, and hot cocoa mix to create a welcoming hot cocoa station for guests.
DIY Tip: Fill the mug with holiday treats, wrap it with clear cellophane, and tie it with a ribbon for an adorable (and inexpensive) gift!
Holiday Tumbler Set: Fun and Functional Decor
Dollar General’s $1 coffee tumblers are a fantastic find, especially with the festive “I’m only a morning person on Christmas” quote. These reusable cups are perfect for on-the-go holiday drinks, but they can also be turned into decor!
DIY Tip: Add faux snow or small ornaments inside and place them on your mantel or tiered tray. Alternatively, give them as stocking stuffers or make a set of personalized travel mugs for a holiday party.
Holiday Candle Holders
Grab some plain glass jars or candle holders and Dollar General’s holiday-themed paper or napkins. Cut out festive shapes or patterns, and use some Mod Podge to adhere them to the outside of the glass.
Pop a tealight candle inside, and you’ve got yourself a cozy, glowing centerpiece that adds warmth to any room.
Candy Cane Place Card Holders
Snag a bundle of candy canes and some holiday ribbon. Tie three candy canes together at the top with a festive ribbon, letting them stand up like a tripod.
Slide a place card between the candy canes’ curves, and you have an adorable (and edible) way to set your holiday table with flair.
Festive Garland with a Twist
Pick up some colorful Dollar General ribbons and a pack of clothespins. Cut the ribbons into strips and tie them along a piece of twine or string, alternating colors and patterns. Use the clothespins to attach holiday cards, photos, or even Christmas stockings to the garland. Hang it up for a personalized touch that adds cheer to any space.
Snowflake Window Clings
Buy a pack of Dollar General’s window cling sheets and glitter glue. Use the glitter glue to draw snowflake patterns on the cling sheets and let them dry.
Once ready, stick them on your windows for a glistening winter wonderland effect that’s both beautiful and easy to remove when the season’s over.
Holiday Sign Decor
Dollar General often has small, wooden holiday signs with cheerful sayings like “Merry Christmas” or “Let it Snow.” These are perfect for a quick and easy holiday vignette. Pair a wooden sign with a few faux sprigs of holly, pine cones, and Dollar General candles for a festive display.
DIY Tip: Use a small chalkboard sign from Dollar General and customize your own holiday message. This can be updated daily with fun quotes, creating a unique decor piece each day leading up to Christmas!
DIY Ornament Garland
Dollar General sells packs of mini ornaments that are perfect for making your own garland. Thread ornaments onto twine, alternating colors, and styles, to create a festive garland for your mantel, staircase, or even the Christmas tree itself.
DIY Tip: To add more texture, incorporate Dollar General’s faux greenery or mini pinecones along the garland. This project is an easy way to personalize your holiday decor.
Easy Holiday Crafts with Dollar General Finds
