I’ve been doing a vegetable garden for over ten years and just stumbled upon these free garden planners. They are a huge help for those who hate drawing like me, and need help visualizing their garden.

Since every year with gardening can be so different a free planner is a sanity saver.


If you live in an area that has a short growing season, you need a plan.
The beautiful thing about our online world today is all the free things we can do.
Before you start designing your garden answer the following questions.

  • HOW BIG WILL YOUR GARDEN BE?
  • RAISED BEDS OR NOT?
  • HOW MUCH SOIL IS IN THE BUDGET
  • WHAT DOES YOUR FAMILY LOVE TO EAT

After you have planned your garden many of the sites below let you print out a copy! Or you could always screenshot it too. The planners below do not require any special software.

Garden Planner

This is a free trial version but the free trial version should be enough for your vegetable garden design ideas.

Better Homes & Garden

One of my favorite magazines has a free software to download. With this one you also get to design inside projects as well as your outdoor landscapes.

GardenaT

This is my personal favorite one and the one I use the most. It’s free and I love starting with their sample gardens when my mind isn’t feeling very creative. You don’t have to download anything with this one.

Gardeners

This is a simple to use program that doesn’t require any downloads. You can also print out your design when you are finished. Gotta love a good ol drag and drop designer.
