Home » WEEK 2: I’m on A Spending Freeze

January 11, 2016 (Updated: December 5, 2018)

spending freeze

Did you join me last week when I announced my wonderful spending freeze?

Quick recap we have $25 a week to spend. All the reason why is here.  I have to say with my 22 day meal plan this second week was not so bad at all. It’s the week after I’m feeling a bit hesitant about. I want to add that for snacks I am baking away. Muffins, Cookies, smoothies you name it, I’m trying it!

Join me Every Monday to see how I spent our $25 budget

Here’s what I bought for this week:

spending freeze

1 5 lb. bag of Flour $1.39– I have been buying King Arthur Flour at BJ’s 10 lbs. for $6.99 but Gold Medal was super cheap at Tops and I knew this moment was coming. So since I’m off my King Arthur Flour I went the Aldi route. I have to say my bread does not rise as nice with this flour but it’s temporary!

1 3lb. bag of Gala Apples $2.89

1 lb. of Butter Quarters $2.69

NY Sharp Cheddar Cheese 8 oz. $1.79

Bananas $0.39/lb. $1.29

Total: $10.05

BJ’sWholesale Club:

1 -14 pack of Trident Chewing Gum $7.99( My husband insisted on this, he said without his beer and Tim Horton’s for now we can’t take away his gum at work! And well it’s a great price at BJs anyways!)
1- Gallon of Blue Diamond Almond Milk $3.99

Animal crackers $4.99
Total: $17.98

Walmart: ( Sorry no image)

1 Gallon of Whole Milk $2.19( This I think we may run out of!)
Total: $2.19

Total Spent for the Week: $30.22

I will submit for $0.25 cash back on my bananas purchase with Checkout 51 app here and be $5 over budget! But I blame it on the chewing gum!

Here is our dinner menu for the week.  For the beginning of this menu and how I started it head here.  For Breakfast it will be eggs, pancakes, cereal. Lunch, Chicken Nuggets, Sandwiches and Smoothies.

  • Baked French Toast
  • Chilli with cornbread( use venison)
  • Venison Stroganoff
  • Chicken Thighs with Sauteed Green Beans( Stocked up when they were $0.79/lb for thighs at Tops)
  • Chicken Noodle Soup- use leftover chicken thigh meat
  • Homemade Pizza
  • Venison Sausage Soup
