Kindergarten is an exciting time for kids and parents. For many of us, they are in school a full day and maybe riding the bus to and from for the first time.
Many changes occur, and it’s a great idea to talk about the upcoming school year through the summer with your child.
My youngest daughter is heading off to Kindergarten in the fall. My heart is excited and sad all at the same time. It is true once they start kindergarten, time flies. When my oldest started kindergarten, I went into a crazy Fall Decor shopping spree. I have no idea what will happen this time. Maybe I need my own adult list of books to help deal with your child going off to Kindergarten?!
Here are my top picks for kids getting ready to go to kindergarten.

This rhyming, brightly illustrated book is the perfect way to practice the alphabet and introduce young children to kindergarten.
This is a classic. I loved Little Critter books as a kid and love reading these with my own children. Go through the steps of getting ready for a school day as Little Critter is a bit nervous. Get Yours Here.
Of course, I have to have a pig character book in here! ( If you are new, I own two mini pigs. One lived in our house for a year!) This book shares the love parents have for their kids no matter where they are. It’s a great book to read and remind your child how much you will be thinking about them and love them while they are at school.
Another great book for reminding your child how much you love them. Helping to calm the fears children have about leaving school.
We have big Pete the Cat fans in this house. So if your kids enjoy the bestselling Pet the Cat books, be sure to add this one to your summer reading list. Plus, you get a Free download of the Groovin Song. Read Preview Here.

That completes my list of books to help your child prepare for Kindergarten. I’m excited for this last summer of my youngest still saying “dhere or banilla.” I’m also excited for her new start of going on to Kindergarten. Here’s to a great summer for all those parents who have kids! May we remember to embrace this time instead of dread it 😉
