10 Ideas for Decorating for Fall on A Budget

Fall is right up there with Christmas when it comes to decorating for me. If you need ideas for decorating for fall on a budget, I’ve got ten excellent ones.

I love festive decorating for Fall and have decorations in all rooms.  Every time the weather starts to cool off at night, I make sure to deck out our mantle with fall decor and sprinkle more throughout our home- for cheap, that is.

It is so easy to get caught up in the trend of buying fall decor items when they are not on sale. That goes for any seasonal item.  Don’t let emotions trigger you to shop during this time of year.

If you want to decorate your home for less, these are great frugal fall decor ideas that you can get for less.  This past weekend, I strolled through my favorite budget-friendly stores and found some adorable items—a few of the items I bought last year during the seasonal clearance.

Never toss your fall decor. You can reuse so many items again the following year and change them to give them a different feel.

Of course, if you are an online shopper Amazon is a great go-to place. Still, as a frugal person, I can score adorable items on sale, with coupons, or at the stores mentioned above right after Halloween or Thanksgiving when all the decor items go on a deep discount.

Fall Theme Welcome Mat

I love the seasonal welcome mats Big Lots carry. This year they are going with a blue theme. These mats add a touch of festive fall decor for only $9!

Festive Fall Pillars

Big Lots had something similar for $29.99, which was out of my budget since I needed two. So I decided to run into Walmart quickly to take a peek and was so surprised by these. They were a better deal at only $12 each. I like getting two for less than the price of one. See how important it is to always price compare.

Autumn Blessings Farmstyle Sign

I am a sucker for words. I always have been and always will be. I wish I had a talent at handwriting to paint my own signs, but honestly, I always find a deal and get my instant gratification of someone else doing it for me! This cute sign was at Big Lots for $12, and there was a 40% off sale! That means I paid $7.20!

I wanted to give you another picture so you could see the size of it.

Dollar Tree Pumpkins

I always throw in a few pumpkins for Halloween decor, but pumpkins can stay through November too. These little guys lighted up and were only $1 found at The Dollar Tree.

Did you know Dollar Tree takes coupons? And I have a list of all Dollar Tree deals here.

Popcorn Kernels as  Frugal Fall Decor

I love using Popcorn Kernels as decor for fall time. My favorite way to use it is in the candle holder. If you are curious, I scored that at Target on CLEARANCE! It was a mighty fine, my friend, as the Smith and Hawkins items are very rarely clearance. But, if you wait, there will be a deal.

Check out all the best deals at Target this week here.

Fall Harvest Wood Sign

If the other sign I shared were out of the budget, this one surely wouldn’t be. I found it yesterday at The Dollar Tree for, well, yes, a $1! This sign will go great with my festive fall porch decor!

Painted Wood Pumpkins

Okay, this one you do have to do yourself- well, not you, the kids. I let the kids paint these. These cute little wooden DIY pumpkins are the regular price of $1 at Targets One Spot. For me, it entertains the kiddos. It’s cute, and I can have it up year after year on my kid’s craft wall.

*The Pumpkin to the right was a Dollar Tree find too.

Fake Flowers

I love using Fake flowers. Of course, real flowers are amazing, and I enjoy clipping them from the garden when in the season, but I have no problem with the fake for fall decor. Plus, look at how cute this is?

There are two bunches in there, and each was $1 at Dollar Tree! I got the vase at Marshall’s on clearance for $4! This sits in our corner hutch so that I can change out items in it for each season.

Bring in the Leaves

Bringing in the beautiful fall-colored leaves and letting them dry adds a new dept. You can sprinkle around your table or fill up a vase.  The best part is, of course, they are free.

Thankful Banner

Banners add a nice little touch to a mantle. If you love words as I do, then this is a must in your fall decor. This banner was at Target for $10. There was a 40% off Cartwheel offer, making it $6.

Did you know you can save 5% cashback every time you use a Target Redcard? My Debit Redcard is my best friend.
Sign up online and save the line in the store.

Plus, the Cartwheel app is a must, along with these 5 other money-saving apps.

Bless Our Home Sign

This cute little sign came from Dollar General. We have two locations we can go to. One is completely disorganized and dirty. The other one is very well kept. If you have one that turns you off, see if you can find another one close by.

It is still worth going to the store to check out their seasonal decor items. Plus, they frequently have coupons for $5 of $25 through their online coupons. These coupons come off when you check out and type in your phone number.

Check it out here.

Painted Dollar Tree Pumpkins

This one is a bit of a DIY. I spray painted an ugly old pumpkin I got from the Dollar Tree a couple of years ago. This is a great item that you can change out what you put in it a year to year. The cost of spray paint is average $3, but these types of pumpkins only take a little bit. Super cheap, super cute.

Use What You Have- Weeds/Grass

I love the color of this.  I didn’t know if it would work when I saw it out in our backyard, but I immediately went and grabbed the clippers and brought it in. I had some outside in an old barrel, but it started to turn black with the winds and rain. The image above I have had these in the house for a year now. I still love them. I ended up clipping them down without the look of the seeds at the top because my preschool couldn’t resist touching them. This cost me nothing.  As weeds are dying down and everything is turning, look around and see what you can bring into your home for free.

Kiddos Artwork/Saucers

If you have kids in school and are on a budget, use their adorable little artwork for a fall festive look. If the kids haven’t started school yet, head here for a lot of inspiration for decor they can make for you. Michaels every year runs buy 2 get 1 free on these platters/saucers. Not sure the technical term here. These add a fun, festive touch. Plus, Micahel’s frequently has coupons for extra savings.

Fall is my favorite time of year! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I'm originally from New England but moved to FL 3 years ago. Fall is just NOT the same here and I really miss my New England home and fall weather! Decorating for fall and Halloween inside gives me a little of the season and holiday spirit. I add a little something every year. I love FL but oh how I long for New England fall festivities and cool fall nights!
