My Frugal Hack for Getting Free Seeds

Maybe I am SUPER late to the game, or maybe you are like me and haven’t heard about this before. I discovered this last fall and knew I had to write a blog post about it for you.

It’s time to get those FREE seeds. Right now, I’m surprised that in our small city, we have two places to get FREE seeds from.

The best part is I know you have one of these too. ( Video of ours below)

The library. That’s right. Libraries have started a seed-saving program, also known as seed libraries. You bring in some seeds to share with others and take what you need.

You do not have to bring seeds to take seeds.

It’s super simple to fill out the form that helps the library keep track of what’s coming and going.

This year, our local Cornell Cooperative Extension opened an incredible seed library – a perfect resource for all the 4-Hers and penny savers out there!

It’s truly awesome to have such an affordable way to access seeds to cultivate fresh fruits and vegetables.

Some seed libraries have gone above and beyond offering free seeds; there are gardening resources, events, workshops, and more!

If you have the time, desire, or need to save costs on food, please go to your local library’s website or call them up old school and ask if they have a seed exchange program.

Are you looking to make a positive contribution to your community? Start a seed library and empower others to grow their food! You could be the one who helps initiate an exciting new venture that will bring people together and promote sustainability.

For all my frugal gardeners, here are a few other things you can get for FREE when gardening this year.
